The challenge
Job sheets were filled in on paper, photographed and emailed at the end of the day. Office staff rekeyed them. Nothing was visible to anyone until the next morning, and disputes over what had been done were common.
The strategy
We scoped hard to a first version covering one thing properly: capturing a completed job on site, offline, with photographs and a signature. Scheduling and invoicing were deliberately left out of version one.
The solution
A React Native app with an offline-first data layer that syncs when a connection returns, camera capture with automatic compression, and a simple web dashboard for the office. Submitted to both stores and supported since.
The outcome
Job records now reach the office the moment an engineer has signal rather than the following day, and the paper trail that caused most disputes has gone.
